Hebrew home schooling? - I am a mother of two children. My oldest girl is almost eight years of age and I would like to home school the Hebrew studies as it is very expensive to do this through our local temples. Do you have any web sites for children that could help me through this process? I am a convert and need some help. I do plan to attend temple when we can find one which meets our situation. Your help in this area would be greatly appreciated as I am looking forward to this twice a week study period and opportunity to teach my child at home just like in the "old country"

How can I afford a Jewish education for my son to have a Bar Mitzvah? - My son is 11 years old. He has had an off and >> on >> Jewish education and Hebrew School classes. We have since relocated, and I have found no close temples, >> and in addition, the ones I have found in my city are very expensive and they >> all seem to have the same steep financial requirements. While we do not >> qualify for financial aid, what we make is enough to cover bills and very >> small extra expenses. Is there a way to avoid paying a large fortune and yet >> getting him ready to Bar Mitzvah on schedule? I am apalled that both back >> east and out west, money seems to be the prevalant factor, not passing on the >> soul and spirit of the Jewish faith. Do you have any ideas or know of any >> way >> to get this accomplished?

How can I insure my children become Hebrew-literate? - I have 4 children ranging in age from 3 wks to 8 years.I want them to grow up knowing not only the language of the sacred writings but what it means as well, not just a liturgical thing.Do you have any suggestions for a busy family with only one semi-literate member? What kind of practical things can we do?The other day I showed my 4 year-old his name (Othniel) in Hebrew and asked him to try and write it, just for fun. We played the little game four or five times & moved on. 2 weeks later he sits down at Grandma's and writes it again, perfectly at the top of his picture. We were amazed, and a bit elated! But in reality what should I expect?

Jewish Homeschooling Resources - I am homeschooling my 2 daughters. I have been using the Alpha Omega Bridgestone Academy. It is wonderful, except that it is Christian based. Would you know of any Jewish based homeschooling equivilant? I love to homeschool the girls, and the academy is wonderful about the religious differences. But, it would sure be nice to have a curriculum that would enhance their learning in Judaism in addition to Sunday School.
